FAQs

What is your pasta made of?

We start with 100% Australian-grown, premium Durum Wheat Semolina, sourced exclusively from the Golden Durum Triangle in New South Wales. It’s a region famous for producing some of the finest wheat in the world, known for its rich taste and easy digestibility.

Then we add the good stuff — fresh Aussie vegetables from our local markets. We puree them ourselves and blend them straight into the dough. No powders. No shortcuts. No additives or artificial flavours. Just real veggies, real pasta, and real goodness in every bite.

What does it taste like?

Like good-quality pasta — smooth, mild and familiar. The veggie flavour is gentle, not bitter or strong, so kids eat it without hesitation.

Is your pasta gluten-free?

Our pasta contains wheat and therefore gluten. We are already working on a gluten free version of our veggie pasta so all of our coeliac and gluten intolerant little eaters get to enjoy our pasta too!

Will this pasta replace vegetables?

Little Eaters pasta isn’t designed to replace vegetables entirely, but to help kids warm up to them. It adds real veggie content in a form children actually enjoy — fun shapes, gentle flavours and bright colours. Think of it as a stepping stone: every positive, pressure-free veggie experience builds comfort and curiosity, making it easier for kids to accept vegetables in other forms over time.

How will this pasta help my child eat more vegetables?

Children are naturally cautious with new foods, especially vegetables (a behaviour known as food neophobia).
Research1 shows that repeated, gentle exposure helps overcome this: when kids experience vegetables in different contexts, their willingness to try them increases over time.
Experts also emphasise the value of visual and contextual exposure. That means seeing vegetables in various ways, talking about them and associating them with positive, low-pressure experiences. This kind of repeated, enjoyable contact helps reduce resistance and builds comfort around vegetables.

That’s exactly the approach Little Eaters takes. Our packaging shows and names the veggies. Pumpkin, beetroot and carrot – making them visible and familiar, not hidden! The pasta’s colours and playful shapes create positive, low-pressure associations with veggies. Mealtimes become more relaxed and fun and reinforcing those positive connections that make vegetables feel normal, not “yuck.” Over time, these repeated, enjoyable exposures can help make vegetables a familiar part of your child’s world and not a battle at the table.

1For the science-minded parents out there, the Vegetable Intake Strategic Alliance highlights how positive, repeated exposure helps children learn to like vegetables gradually — exactly what Little Eaters is built on.

Do the nutrients stay once the pasta is cooked?

We use pumpkin, carrot and beetroot because their key nutrients remain meaningful after cooking.

  • Fibre: Mostly unaffected by cooking, helps support digestive health.
  • Beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A, in carrots and pumpkin): Heat-stable and even more absorbable after cooking.
  • Other antioxidants: Natural compounds like lutein, vitamin E, and betalains largely survive, adding extra nutritional value.

Overall, while cooking changes nutrient levels, each serve contains real vegetables (pumpkin, carrot, beetroot) — providing fibre, carotenoids and antioxidants that plain pasta doesn’t. You’re not replacing fresh vegetables, but you are adding meaningful veggie content to your child’s plate.

In addition, you get the extra benefits of repeated, positive exposure to vegetables — playful shapes, bright colours, and a mealtime that’s calmer, more enjoyable, and less of a battle.

How do I cook Little Eaters pasta?

Cook it just like regular pasta. Bring (optional: salted ) water to the boil in a large pot and cook for about 8-10 minutes. We recommend giving the pasta a quick stir after putting it in the water so it doesn’t stick to the bottom. The shapes hold their form best if the pasta is cooked al dente (8 minutes or less).

How long does it keep?

Unopened you can keep our pasta in a cool, dry and dark area of your pantry for 2 years. Once opened, please store in an airtight container away from moisture and heat.

Where can I buy your pasta in store?

We’re currently working on getting our Little Eaters pasta into local grocers and health-food stores. In the meantime, you can order online anytime.
